On July 1, 2019, the Hamel Volunteer Fire Department Board of Directors sent a letter to the City of Medina requesting the formation of a joint team with representatives of the City of Medina to investigate and determine the feasibility of transitioning Hamel Fire to a municipal fire department.
On August 20, 2019, the Medina City Council authorized the formation of this transition study group, appointing Mayor Martin and Council member DesLauriers to participate in discussions with the Hamel Fire Department. Below are the minutes from the transition study group meetings:
